Come join the International Somatic Movement Education and Therapy Association for an interactive lecture demonstration of three different somatic movement methods.
Somatic Movement enhances human function and body-mind integration through mindful and restorative movement. Somatic Movement Education and Therapy supports homeostasis, co-regulation and neuro-plasticity. Our practices incorporate: postural and movement observation and evaluation; experiential anatomy; and movement patterning that increases efficiency, while refining perceptual, kinesthetic and proprioceptive sensitivity. Our profession encompasses distinct methods each with their own educational or therapeutic emphasis, principles, methods and techniques.
Learning Objectives:
- The participant will experience a sample of somatic movement practices.
- The participant will be able to discuss the scientific foundation on how somatic movement can benefit patients in need of; pain relief, recovery from sports injuries, support for motor delays and neurodegenerative disorders.
- The participant will learn simple, practical techniques that they can implement right away with their patients.
